When you give to UpliftedCare, you are giving more than a donation. You are giving comfort. You are giving dignity. You are giving families more meaningful moments together. And you are helping ensure that no one has to face grief alone.

Founded in 1982, UpliftedCare is a nonprofit organization built on a simple belief: every person deserves compassionate, individualized care at the end of life—and every family deserves support along the journey.

For more than four decades, the generosity of our communities has helped us grow, adapt and expand the ways we serve patients, families and our neighbors. And while many of the essential services provided through hospice are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance, some of the most meaningful parts of what we do are made possible because people like you choose to give.

So, where does your donation go?

It goes beyond the hospice benefit.

Hospice provides an incredible benefit to individuals living with a terminal illness. That benefit covers the essential care provided by an interdisciplinary team that can include physicians, nurses, certified nursing assistants, social workers, chaplains, bereavement professionals and volunteers.

But at UpliftedCare, we believe quality end-of-life care should be about more than meeting a medical need.

It should be about meeting the needs of the whole person.

That is where charitable giving makes a difference.

Massage Therapy

Your donation can bring comfort through touch.

Our licensed massage therapist specializes in working with patients facing serious illness and end-of-life symptoms. Through gentle, individualized massage therapy, patients can experience comfort, relaxation and relief when their bodies are carrying the physical and emotional weight of illness.

For some patients, something as simple as a comforting touch can make an incredibly difficult day feel a little easier.

Your donation can turn a heartbeat into a keepsake.

Music has a remarkable ability to connect us, evoke memories and bring people together—even when words become difficult.

Our board-certified music therapist brings that power directly to patients and families through music therapy and our Sounds of the Heart program.

Using a specialized recording stethoscope, our music therapist captures a patient’s actual heartbeat and incorporates it into a song selected by the patient or family. The finished recording becomes a deeply personal keepsake—a tangible reminder of a person, a moment and a love that will continue long after they are gone.

That isn’t simply music. It’s a piece of someone’s story that a family can keep forever.

Your donation can bring a wagging tail to the bedside.

Sometimes comfort has four legs.

Our Tails of Joy Pet Therapy program brings specially trained therapy dogs and their handlers directly to patients. These visits can create moments of joy, calm and connection for patients and their families during an incredibly vulnerable time.

A patient may not have the energy for a long conversation. They may not feel like talking at all.

But they can still smile when a dog walks through the door.

Those moments matter.

Your donation can help someone breathe a little easier.

Respiratory symptoms and shortness of breath can be frightening and profoundly affect a person’s quality of life.

Our respiratory therapist provides specialized support and symptom-management strategies designed to help patients navigate these challenging moments with greater comfort and confidence.

Because when someone is struggling to breathe, comfort isn’t a luxury. It’s essential.

Your donation can honor a Veteran’s life and service.

At UpliftedCare, we are proud to participate in the We Honor Veterans program and to create a Veteran-centric culture throughout our organization.

Our team receives specialized education to better understand the unique experiences and needs that Veterans may face at the end of life. We incorporate those needs into each Veteran’s individualized plan of care so that their service, experiences and personal wishes are recognized and respected.

Through meaningful tributes such as pinning ceremonies, Vietnam Veteran Welcome Home ceremonies, flag draping, honor walks and other special recognitions, we help ensure our Veteran patients receive the dignity and gratitude they deserve.

Because their service mattered. And how we honor them at the end of their journey matters, too.

Your donation can remind a caregiver they don’t have to do it alone.

When someone you love is facing serious illness, it can be easy to become so focused on their needs that you forget about your own. But caregiver burden is one of the greatest challenges we see today. The physical, emotional and financial demands of caregiving can be overwhelming—and too often, caregivers aren’t sure where to turn for help.

That’s why UpliftedCare offers a free monthly Caregiver Support Group, open to anyone in the community who is caring for a loved one.

Held on the second Wednesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the group provides a welcoming place for caregivers to step away from the demands of their day, connect with others who understand what they’re experiencing and discover resources that can make their journey a little easier.

Each gathering includes a light lunch, an opportunity to network and share with other caregivers, and rotating guest speakers who highlight local resources and practical support for caregivers at different stages of their caregiving journey.

Sometimes the most valuable thing a caregiver can hear is simply:

“You’re not the only one.”

Your donation doesn’t stop at hospice.

One of the most important things your generosity makes possible happens outside of a patient’s home.

In 2020, UpliftedCare opened the doors to the UpliftedCare Community Grief Center—a physical place in our community where people can come to grieve, heal and find connection.

Today, the Community Grief Center serves nearly 1,000 people each year, providing services completely free of charge to anyone in our community experiencing loss.

That includes:

Individual grief counseling

Family counseling

Weekly grief support groups

Monthly grief workshops

Memorial events and opportunities for remembrance

Support for individuals navigating the many different forms grief can take

No insurance card. No financial barrier. No requirement to have been a hospice patient.

Just a place where someone can walk through the door and say, “I’m hurting,” and find someone ready to help.

Your donation makes the difference between “covered” and “complete.”

Insurance and government benefits provide the foundation for hospice care. But charitable giving allows UpliftedCare to build upon that foundation and provide services that address the emotional, spiritual, social and personal needs of the people we serve.

Your generosity helps us offer care that is more personalized.

It helps us create moments of joy in the middle of difficult days.

It helps us honor Veterans.

It helps us support caregivers.

It helps us create meaningful memories for families.

And it helps ensure that when someone in our community experiences a loss, they don’t have to navigate grief alone.

For more than 40 years, our community has invested in UpliftedCare—and we have worked every day to invest that generosity right back into our community.

When you donate to UpliftedCare, you aren’t simply funding a program. You are helping make someone’s journey a little more comfortable, a little more meaningful and a lot less lonely.

That’s the power of giving.

And that’s the difference your donation makes.
